Dr Martin de Scally
BVSc(hons) MMedVet(medicine)
Martin started Hilton Veterinary Hospital in 2010. He has been practising as a veterinarian for over 30 years in general and referral practice. Martin specialised in Small Animal Veterinary Medicine at Onderstepoort. He is a registered Medicine Specialist with the South African Veterinary Council. Martin receives many referrals from other vets in the area and from other parts of the country. His passion is non invasive diagnosis and treatment as well as pain control.
Martin is also involved in lecturing and continuing education locally, nationally and internationally. He has presented at South African Veterinary Congresses and World Veterinary Congresses. Martin is currently the chairman of the South African Veterinary Association KZN branch, he is a member of the Rabies action group in KZN and 2012 he was elected on to the World Small Animal Veterinary Association committee.
Martin is married to Lauren and they have 2 sons. Nicholas and Christopher. They both enjoy playing soccer, running, cycling, swimming, playing the piano and singing. They have 2 dogs, Jena and Loki. In his spare time Martin enjoys running, cycling, playing soccer, playing the guitar, singing with his sons and being a Dad.
Dr Sujatha Harrylal
BSc, BVSc, PG Dip Med
Sujatha joined Hilton Veterinary Hospital in January 2017. She is one of our dedicated, caring veterinarians that form part of our team. Suj, as we fondly call her, has an amazing sense of humour and keeps us entertained.
Sujatha is married to Delon, who is also a vet.
She enjoys internal medicine and has studied further to show her love for treating animals in the best way possible.
Sujatha has 4 dogs. 3 German short haired pointers and a Boerboel cross as well as 1 cat.
In her spare time Suj enjoys cycling, playing the piano and doing field work with her dogs.
Dr Sarah Halgreen
MSc Animal Science, BVSc
Sarah joined Hilton Veterinary Hospital in March 2017. She is one of our dedicated, caring and for ever smiling, veterinarians that form part of our team. Sarah qualified as a vet in 2015 and she spent time practicing as a state vet as well as locuming at a small animal after hours clinic and volunteering with the coastal horse care unit.
Before Sarah studied Veterinary Science she taught at the SA jockey academy for 5 years while finishing her masters degree in animal science.
Sarah is very enthusiastic to learn as much as she can in all aspects of veterinary science.
Sarah has 2 German short haired pointers.
In her spare time Sarah enjoys the outdoors particularly going to the beach and mountains. She also enjoys reading.
Dr Sara Boyd
BVSc M Surg
Sara joined Hilton Veterinary Hospital in November 2019. She is one of our dedicated, caring veterinarians that form part of our team. Sara is the only small animal specialist surgeon in KZN.
Sara is an intragral part of the Hilton Vet team, performing specialist surgeries and pain management consults, on a daily basis.
Sara is married to Mark and has 3 children, Jordan, Tyla and Aimee.
In her spare time Sarah enjoys the outdoors particularly horse-riding and going to the bush.
Sr Cheryl Marr
Cheryl joined Hilton Vet Hospital in 1998. She has been nursing for 44 years. Cheryl enjoys general nursing and seeing the patients tucked in at night with their medication and appropriate diets. She is willing to go the extra mile to ensure your animals receive the best care possible. Cheryl will often bake some goodies as sustenance for the hardworking team at Hilton Vet Hospital.
Cheryl is married to Ian and they have 3 children. Megan is a veterinarian, Jackie is a physiotherapist and Richard is an engineer. Cheryl has 3 dogs, all who have been rescued as well as 1 cat. In her free time Cheryl enjoys gardening, painting, sewing and baking.
Sr Vicki Smith
Vicki started working at Hilton Vet Hospital in 2013. She is one of our very caring, energetic and knowledgeable nurses. Vicki enjoys working with anaesthetics, performing dentals and taking X-rays. She is also very active in posting many ideas and snippets on our social media pages.
Vicki is married to Ryan and they have 2 daughters, Amber and Lilly. Vicki has 2 dogs and 9 birds. These include 2 macaws, 1 African Grey, 1 blue fronted Amazon, 1 senegal, 2 conures, 1 Indian ringneck and 1 electus.
In her spare time, Vicki enjoys going for walks with her daughters, riding bikes and painting.
Sr Cursti Potgieter
Cursti started working at Hilton Vet Hospital in 2018. She has been nursing for 11 years. She is one of our very caring, energetic and knowledgeable nurses. Cursti enjoys the challenges of medical nursing, hospital care, surgical nursing, anaesthetics and interacting with clients and their pets.
Cursti is married to Jacques and they have 2 daughters Skylar and Atarah. They have 2 dogs, Flaire and Peanut. In her spare time Cursti enjoys the outdoors, the occasional horse ride, being with family and socialising with friends.
Sr Megan Darling Adank
Megan started working at Hilton Vet Hospital in 2019. She has been nursing for 11 years. She is one of our very caring, energetic and knowledgeable nurses. Megan enjoys the challenges of rehabilitation care and physiotherapy for our patients
Megan is married to Adrian and they have 1 daughter.
Sr Megan Sinclair
Megan started working at Hilton Vet Hospital in 2021. She has been nursing for 11 years. She is one of our very caring, energetic and knowledgeable nurses. Megan has a special interest in anaesthetics, client relations, animal nutrition and welfare wildlife cases that come in.
Megan has a cat named Ollie. In her spare time Megan enjoys hiking, horse riding and spending time outdoors.
Sr Nicole Rose Innes
Nicky joined Hilton Vet Hospital in April 2010 and worked here for 2 years. She left for a while and has rejoined us as a locum vet nurse. Nicky enjoys the patient care side of nursing and physiotherapy as well as long term treatment.
Nicky is married to Jason and they have a son Michael and a daughter Jasmine. They have 1 cat, Jenga . In her spare time Nicky enjoys being a Mom, curling up with a good book, fire poi (fire dancing), water skiing and spending time with friends.
Lauren de Scally
Lauren joined Hilton Vet Hospital in 2010. She creates the newsletters, maintains the website, maintains the Facebook page and she is involved in marketing and accounts. Lauren enjoys chatting to clients and getting to know their precious pets a little better. She is always looking for photo opportune moments.
Lauren is married to Martin and they have 2 sons, Nicholas and Christopher. They have 2 dogs, Jenna and Loki. In her spare time Lauren enjoys running, playing tennis, playing the piano, the outdoors, baking and being a Mom.
Lana Payne
Lana joined Hilton Vet Hospital in August 2010. She is one of our very competent, hard working and friendly receptionists. Lana enjoys working in reception and dealing with clients and their animals. Lana also brings her quiet, friendly and efficient manner to assist clients with their queries and appointments.
Lana is very helpful in assisting clients with advice and feedback as to how their animals are doing after their treatments and procedures at Hilton Vet. She is also very involved in setting up a a lot referral cases that need to be seen at Hilton Vet Hospital.
Lana also spoils us with some of the goodies she enjoys baking.
Lana is married to Richard and they have identical twin sons, Garth and Luke. In her spare time Lana enjoys baking, gardening and jogging to stay fit.
Jackson Makuwere
Jackson joined Hilton Vet Hospital in April 2010. Jackson started out as a kennel hand but is now part of the reception team. He always greets clients with his friendly smile. Jackson enjoys meeting different people and their animals. He will advise you on any pet food or accessories that you require. He is very instrumental in placing a lot of the food and drug orders that our patients require. Jackson is interested in watching the Ultra Sound scans to further his knowledge.
Jackson is busy completing an online sales and marketing course.
Jackson is married to Winnie and they have 2 daughters, Alexa and Keisha. The rest of Jackson’s family live in Zimbabwe and he goes to visit them when he can. In his spare time Jackson enjoys watching movies, listening to music and playing soccer.
Bongani Mzimande
Bongani joined Hilton Vet Hospital in 2002 . Bongani is one of our very capable kennel hands who assists in looking after your precious animals. He always has a friendly smile and is very kind to the animals. He is part of a shift rotation so he looks after your animals when on day duty and is very kind to the animals and when on night shift, he cares for them all night long. Bongani enjoys holding your animals while they are being scanned and is interested in being hands on while your precious pets are in surgery.
Bongani’s family live in Sweetwaters. He has 2 children, Siyabonga and Thembi . In his spare time, Bongani enjoys playing soccer and rugby.
Justice Phoswa
Justice joined Hilton Vet Hospital in 1997. He is one of our very dedicated and capable kennel hands who assists in looking after you precious animals. Justice enjoys holding your animals and assisting with scans and x-rays. He particularly enjoys listening to the vets when they explain the diagnosis's to the clients. He says he feels that he has learned a lot.
Justice is married to Prudence and they have 5 children. Ntunthuko, Andile, Sli, Zethe, and Ntethelelo. In his spare time, Justice enjoys working at home, doing household maintenance and gardening. He enjoys watching soccer and Westerns on TV.
Precious Mauna
Precious joined Hilton Vet Hospital in 2014. Precious always has a smile on her face and is so willing to help out wherever she is needed. She is one of our very dedicated and capable kennel assistants who helps in looking after your precious animals. Precious enjoys being part of the team in theatre where she shows so much care and involvement in theatre cases. She is also fantastic in helping out with our stock take.
Precious is married to Brian who is also part of our team. They have 1 daughter, Alicia and 1 son Edwin. In her spare time, Precious enjoys going to church, listening to Gospel music and cooking.
Brian Kushaya
Brian joined Hilton Vet Hospital in 2013. He is one of our very dedicated and capable kennel hands who assists in looking after your precious animals. Brian enjoys assisting in the operating theatre and observing the operations. He is part of a shift rotation so he looks after your animals when on day duty and is very kind to the animals and when on night shift, he cares for them all night long.
Brian is married to Precious, who is also part of our team. They have 1 daughter, Alicia and 1 son Edwin. In his spare time, Brian enjoys listening to music and watching soccer.
Ferris Chitsora
Ferris joined Hilton Vet Hospital in 2014. He is one of our very dedicated and capable kennel assistants who helps in looking after your precious animals. He is part of a shift rotation so he looks after your animals when on day duty and is very kind to the animals and when on night shift, he cares for them all night long. Ferris enjoys working with dogs and puppies and says there is still a lot more that he would like to learn. We are very grateful for all the effort and enthusiasm he puts in to all he does.
Ferris is in a relationship with Bridget. In his spare time Ferris enjoys running and playing soccer.

Thomas Sithole
Thomas joined Hilton Vet Hospital in 2017. He is one of our very dedicated and capable kennel assistants who helps in looking after your precious animals. Thomas is also our skilled and talented maintenance manager and is often fixing, renovating and sprucing up our vet hospital. We are very grateful for all the effort and enthusiasm he puts in to all that he does.
Thomas is married to and has 3 children. In his spare time Thomas enjoys running and playing soccer.

Lloyd Ruzvidzo
Lloyd joined Hilton Vet Hospital in 2014. Lloyd always has a smile on his face and is so willing to help out wherever he is needed. He is one of our very dedicated and capable kennel assistants who helps in looking after your precious animals. Lloyd enjoys assisting with scopes, nasal constructions, surgical cases like GDVs and ultra sound scanning.
Lloyd is married to Joyce and they have 1 son, Max. In his spare time, Lloyd enjoys running with his earphones on and listening to music, as well as competing in races.
Innocent Nkala
Innocent joined Hilton Vet Hospital in 2019. He is such a polite young gentleman who is responsible for making sure that our hospital is kept clean at all times. Innocent also assists in helping to pack our shelves with the prescription diets and all the accessories and drugs that we purchase. He is also interested in checking expiry dates on the prescription diets.
Innocent enjoys seeing the result of her hard work when the hospital looks “sparkly and clean”.
